14 days down, 16 days to go

Denae arrived at the hospital on Friday February 13th at 8am, and today is Friday February 27th, which is 14 days later. So we have almost reached the half way point in our hospital stay. The baby is set to be born on March 10th and with a 5 day recovery from the surgery, that would put us having Denae at home about 16 days from now.

So in honor of this occasion (the almost half way point), Denae and I decided to have a little outing and I am spending the night at the hospital tonight.

Denae has really appreciated seeing all the visitors, receiving all the calls and emails, so keep them up, we are almost over the hump and on the downhill side.

I have really appreciated all the meals thus far and the rides for the kids and most of all our Nanny Maria and my Mother=in=Law Cindy. I certainly couldn’t have survived this long without you.

Thus far we have had meals from Kim Spiers and Sharon Gretencord, both were out of this world and very different. The kids loved both of them.

On Sunday Kim dropped buy some homemade Gumbo and Jambalaya, even James (the little one) loved it.

And tonight we had Chicken strips, potatoes and green beans, and chocolate cookies for desert. Once again, a big winner with the whole family, Thanks Sharon.

Using Technology to make life a little better

We did not get over the hospital today to see Denae, so we did the next best thing, we did a video call to her in the hospital. While not quite as personal as we might have liked it to be, it is definitely better than a phone call. The kids all gather around the computer and visit with Denae. I think we had it going for about 30 minutes this evening. It is nice to know that there are some very good and ethical uses of the technology that God has given us.

Challenging Day

Well so far things have gone fairly smoothly at home, Denae has had her issues with IVs and shades that won’t go up, but for the most part things around the house have been good, until today.

Well maybe it started yesterday with the first baseball practice for my younger boy. Then tonight there was the first practice for the other boy (different team). It seems that each team will have three games/practices a week. Most of these games and practices will be on week nights…. I am used to soccer in which all games take place on the weekends.

Then today my laptop (personal one) had to be taken to the shop for repairs. The screen will not work, the laptop is running, but I can’t see anything on the screen, so I was able to get in remotely and back everything up, but that is the only good thing about the situation. So now I am somewhat hampered by this since that is where I keep all my data about running things around the house. It is not a show stopper, but it sure does slow things down. So I am now using the kids computer (glad I bought them a nice one).

I am taking the little ones up to visit Mom tomorrow morning, they haven’t seen her since last Sunday. They only last about 15 minutes in the hospital room, so it is a challenge to find time to make a quick trip up there and back. I know Denae is missing them terribly, and I also know they miss Mom too.

Well it is nice and quiet in the house, so I guess I should retire to bed. Keep the prayers up, we will surely need them in the next two weeks.
