Rachel, our oldest daughter, received the sacrament of confirmation tonight along with 141 other young Catholics. She has been looking forward to this day for a long time now. Confirmation has become a sort of right of passage into adulthood within the Catholic Church these days. The intent is to keep the young Catholic as long as possible in the parish RE program and thus learning about God. Luckily for us, our daughter, and our other children as well, love their Catholic faith ans this sacrament is not viewed as a graduation, but as a further outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the reception of sacramental grace.
Many thanks to the family (mostly from Houston) and friends who joined us in the beautiful parish of St. Williams in Round Rock, TX and to Bishop Gregory Aymond of the Diocese of Austin for his faithful witness to the love of Christ. A special thanks goes to Sister Lillian Manning for being Rachel’s confirmation sponsor.
